- Does Donarius® comply with the new I.R.S.
requirements for 2007?
Yes, Donarius® will print a tax receipt that includes the church or
charity name and an itemized list of all contributions including the date an amount
of each. A brief summary of the
new I.R.S. recordkeeping requirements for cash contributions is here.
- Can Donarius® print quarterly statements?
Yes, Donarius® will print a quarterly statement for each donor,
showing the total they have given so far and a summary of how their donations
were used. There are two types of summaries:
a) a chart of donations by quarter and category
b) a list of donations in the last quarter and a
chart of donations by quarter and category
for the previous quarters.
- How many donors can Donarius® handle?
Donarius® will work with up to 100,000 donors but our largest
customer has about 92,000.
- Can I use Donarius® on several
computers?
Yes, there are actually three ways to do this:
- Install Donarius® on the computers by selecting Single User
on the installer. To transfer data from one computer to the other, do a backup on one,
bring the backup CD or memory stick to the other computer and restore the data.
- Install it to run on a local network. One computer will be a server
(with the data) and the other computers will access the data on the server. On the
other computers, select Client on the installer.

Using Donarius:
- How do I print quarterly statements with Donarius®?
Click on the Reports icon and choose Donations by Date...,
give a date range of
Jan 1 to the end of the previous quarter, click
on One donor per page, click on Quarterly then
click OK. Press the Page Down key on the keyboard to see each donor. To
print them click on [Print] in the menu bar.
- What is the difference between a tax receipt
and a quarterly statement?
A tax receipt is to be used when filing an income tax return. It will have the
total donated for the year.
(For one-time donations it will have the amount given during a date range.) There
are safeguards within Donarius to prevent a tax receipt from being printed for
amounts that were included in a previous tax
receipt. This means Donarius will not print a tax receipt if it thinks the person
already got one.
A quarterly statement is just a report about what each person gave during each
quarter of the year.
This can be done at any time. This is what you should give each person during
the first three quarters.
Then at the end of the year print a tax receipt for each person.
- How do I convert a demo version to an activated version?
Purchase an activation code by placing an order on this website or
calling 1-479-INFO to pay with a credit card or printing the order form
found here and mailing a check.
- How do I enter more than one donation for someone on the same date?
Suppose you received two checks, one for $100 and another for $50.
You would enter one of them,
say the $100 check, with the check number. To add the second one, you would
display the first donation, then press F8 or click [Add] in the menu bar or
choose Find/Add Another Donation from the Action menu,
Then you would enter the $50 check, with its check number.
If the second donation was in cash instead of a check, you would choose Cash (Bills).
- Do all donors need an envelope number?
No, give an envelope number only to those donors who actually use envelopes. Set
the envelope number to zero if a donor does not use a church envelope. Some donor
types usually use envelopes and those donors may be given one. If a donor was
inadvertently given an envelope number, then change the envelope
number to zero.
- How do I change a donor's envelope number?
Suppose you want to change the donor who uses envelope number 45 so that they
use envelope number 32. First find out if anyone is using envelope number 32. If
yes, then change their envelope number to zero. Then go to the donor who uses
envelope number 45 and change it to 32.
- How do I delete a donation?
To delete a donation, click on the $$$ icon. Change the date
to the date of the donation you want to delete and press TAB on the keyboard. Change
the donor number or envelope number to the number of the donor you are looking for and
press TAB. Change the amounts to zero and click [Done (F10)] in the
menu bar or press F10.
- How do I move Donarius® to another computer?
- Make a backup of your data.
- Install Donarius® on the other computer using your
program CD.
- If you downloaded Donarius® then copy the
file: DONSETUP.EXE to a CD or USB drive
and run it on the other computer.
- If you downloaded an update then
copy the file: DONUPDATE.EXE or DONUPGRADE.EXE to a CD
or USB drive and run it.
- Start up Donarius®.
- You will then be asked to give information about your church or charitable
organization. You need to enter the name only.
(You may see messages asking you to enter donors or donations or a message
that you have a demo or expired version - ignore these.)
- Restore the data from your backup CD, memory stick or disk.
- When I am entering donations, how do I go to another donor? (i.e. How do I find a donor?)
To go to a donor with a certain envelope number, change the envelope number then press
the Tab or Enter key on the keyboard.
To go to a donor when you know only their name, change the donor number (or the envelope
number) to the first three letters of the surname then press the Tab or
Enter key. If there are several people with a similar last name, you can
enter the first three letters of the last name followed by the first letter of their
first name. When many people match what you have entered,
you will see a list. Pick the correct person from the list.
- How do I change the order of the categories
when entering donations?
Move the cursor off the "Date" box then click on any category name.
A list will pop up - choose the category to appear there.
- How do I prevent a teller/counter from knowing
which envelope # belongs to each person?
You need to change the settings for teller/counters. How you get to the correct
window depends on which version you have. If you have version 4.273 or later
go to the Setup menu and choose Users. Click Next until you
find the user you need to change. If there are no users then first enter the name
and password of the administrator. Then click on New... and enter the teller's
name and password.
If you have an older version, go to the Setup menu and choose Preferences.
Type two passwords, one for full access and one for limited access (ie. teller).
Then change the settings for tellers near the bottom right.
You will see a box that says: May know who an env# belongs to.
Remove the checkmark if any and click OK.
When you want someone to enter donations but not be able to see the name
that corresponds with an envelope number give them only the teller password.
Then when they sign in and enter donations they will only see an envelope
number. For anyone who does not have an envelope number but gives using a
cheque, their donation will be entered by name.
- How do I change the order of the
categories on reports?
Click on the Church or Organization icon. You will see the
list of categories on the top right. Click on any category then on the up or
down arrow to move it to where you want it to be.
- What do I do if I forget my password?
This depends on which version you have. If you have version 4.273 or later
you should contact us and we will give you a temporary password so you can
start Donarius® and pick a new password.
If you have an older version, install your software again from your program CD or
by running the file you
downloaded. (It is a file called DONSETUP.EXE) If you downloaded an update then
run that. (It is a file called DONUPDATE.EXE or DONUPGRADE.EXE) Install to the same folder
where Donarius® is now.
(No data is lost when you re-install.) Then
the first time you use your software you can pick new passwords. If you do not
want to use passwords then enter the word NONE for both passwords.
- How do I import from my online contribution provider?
Set up Donarius® so it knows the company you are using. Click the Donors icon and choose
Add/Edit Donors.... Click on the More Info ==> button and look near the
bottom right. Put the name of the company as part of the pre-authorized deposits name then click OK.
Then on the main window at the bottom left you will see a link to the company.
You may need to make the donation categories in Donarius match what you have on
the on the provider's website. You may also need the donor IDs for each person to match the Donarius donor numbers.
To import from a contribution file, click on the link, select the contribution file,
check that the date is correct, then click the Import button.
Donarius is integrated with PayPal,
Vanco, WeShare, Moonclerk, Givelify, Bambora, Tithe.ly and Txt2Give so that you
can easily import in one step.
Here are some screenshots.
- How do I uninstall Donarius® from my computer?
If you don't need Donarius on your computer anymore there are two ways to uninstall
it:
- Double-click on the Uninstall Donarius icon on your desktop or
in All Programs.
- Delete the Donarius folder that is on your desktop, the one in All Programs

Service and Support:
- What kind of support do you provide?
Our software comes with a one year warranty. During that time you get
free technical support. If you need help in using your software just call or
email us. You also get free program changes during the warranty.
- Do I need to pay a yearly fee to use your software?
There is no yearly fee to use any of our software. After your one year
warranty is up, you can
still call or email us, and we will answer any questions you may have. If you are having
a problem, we will fix it. However, sometimes an upgrade will be necessary
to fix the problem. Since we are constantly improving our software, you may want to
upgrade anyway, to get some new features. (To find out what new features have been
added to Donarius®,
When you upgrade, you will get another year of warranty.
- How much do upgrades cost?
Upgrade costs are based on the difference between the version # you
have "paid up to" and the version # you are upgrading to. To determine
the approximate cost to upgrade, check how many years you have been using the
software since your original purchase or your last upgrade. You would pay the
percentage shown in the chart below.
How many years have you been using the software? |
Approximate cost as a % of the full price |
<1 year |
Free Updates |
1 year |
20 % |
1.5 years |
30 % |
2 years |
40 % |
2.5 or more years |
50 % |
The "paid up to" version is calculated as follows:
- when you purchase your software, you have "paid up to" its version number
- if you report a problem, during the warranty period, that requires an update to
fix, 0.05 is added to your "paid up to" version number, to compensate you
for the inconvenience
- if you request new features during the warranty period,
your "paid up to" version number
will be increased by:
0.01 x (# of months to do the change)
to compensate you for any delay in
doing the software change for you
- when you purchase an upgrade, you have "paid up to" the version
number you were billed for
- How long have you been in business?
Nuverb Systems was founded in 1993 doing custom programming for some clients in
Toronto, Ontario. In 1998 we developed Donarius® and the first copy
was purchased in June of 1998 by a church in Windsor, Ontario.
- Who uses Donarius®?
Donarius® is used by over 2,300 churches and other charities in Canada
and the USA. Here is a breakdown of customers by region and type:

As of: Nov 30/2018 |
The number of donors in these churches and charities varies from a low
of about 30 to a high of about 92,000.
- Why are your prices lower than your competitors?
Our pricing is based on what most churches can afford. There are many small churches
in Canada and the USA, with an attendance of less than 100. (The number of
these varies from 40-50%, depending on the denomination.) For such a church,
we offer a 25% discount. We know from personal experience that even many larger
churches cannot afford an expensive piece of software. Some are still tracking
donations on paper. We could charge more, but we want to make sure our prices are
fair for most churches.
- How are you able to offer free software changes?
Consider what often happens when you buy software. After using it a while, you may
find something about it that you would like to change. But what
can you do? You often can't return the software because you have already
opened the package. And even if you can return it, you will have to look for another
product that will do the job.
We provide a solution to this dilemma by
changing the software for you, free of charge. We know that if you suggest a change,
there are several other people who would like the same new feature but simply did
not think of asking for it. Your new feature, then becomes a part of the current
version, available to all future customers. In the long run we both benefit. You get better
software and we sell more of it.
